Lennox Byer

Director of Programs

I joined MINDS because I love helping the underserved, I love medicine and I love Wesleyan student-founded organizations. This is really rewarding for me and hopefully just as rewarding for the communities we serve. Mental healthcare access is an issue of human rights, just like access to clean water, food and schools.

Lennox Byer joined The MINDS Foundation in 2010 when it was founded at Wesleyan University by Raghu Appasani. According to Lennox he joined because, “…I love helping the underserved, I love medicine and I love Wesleyan student-founded organizations. This is really rewarding for me and hopefully just as rewarding for the communities we serve. Mental healthcare access is an issue of human rights, just like access to clean water, food and schools.” Since joining, he has had three different stints working in various capacities at the program site in Vadodara, Gujarat, India. The longest of these stints was 7 months in 2012/2013.

In the fall, he will begin his first year as a medical student at UCSF School of Medicine. He will be looking to pursue an MD/MPH with a focus in global health. Prior to that, he graduated with honors from Wesleyan University in 2012. He currently resides in his hometown, Walnut Creek, CA.

As our Director of Programs, Lennox manages operations for the field program in India and leads the fellowship program. Lastly, he coordinates many of the research efforts of the organization.
